Finex Pin Mills are designed and constructed for high performance, robustness, easy maintenance and safety. Finex Pin Mills offer versatility yet simplicity in operation to meet the specific requirements of the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Tough-fibrous roots and spices, for example, require completely different milling elements vs. granulated sugar in order to effectively fulfil the individual requirements, both in technical and economic terms. A range of models is available to suit a variety of process and throughput requirements, e.g. from a few kilograms to several tons per hour. Applications
  1. Food industry application
    • Sugar grinding - Different grades of sugar can be achieved by varying the feed rate, the mill speed, and the grinding medium. Sugar is a Group A explosion risk and appropriate explosion precautions must be taken. Our engineers have an in-depth understanding of explosion prevention and control.
    • Spices - Aromatic food products require special handling, as volatile oils are often lost during conventional grinding at room temperature. Product is cooled to -150°C and below using liquid nitrogen to preserve its quality.
    • Cereals - Finex Pin mills are ideal for grinding maize grits, oats, barley, wheat, rice, and other cereals.
    • Dairy Products - Maximum hygiene and thorough cleanability are of utmost importance in the dairy industry, which are met by our grinding mills. Milled products include whey powder, casein, lactose, and milk powder.

    • Double seal arrangement and air-purged seals prevent product ingress into the bearings and stop lubricant from contaminating the mill chamber.

Process Features
Inerting Introduction of chemically non-reactive or inert gas, such as nitrogen, prevents explosion by reducing oxygen level below combustion limit.
Temperature Controlled Introduction of liquid nitrogen as a cooling agent applied to the mill and collection system. This system is employed to improve processing properties of heat sensitive materials.
Cryogenic Grinding Addition of nitrogen and cooling the system to very low temperature of -150°C embrittles the product and grinds it finely, which is not possible at ambient temperatures. Cryogenic grinding ensures that the color and flavor of the product is not lost during the grinding process.
